State Senate Election
When you vote in Wisconsin's August 11th Fall Primary, your ballot will include a choice for the State Senate. The general election is on November 3rd.
State Senators are elected for four-year terms that are staggered so that approximately half of the State Senate is up for election every two years. In the 2020 election cycle, a total of 16 State Senate seats will be up for election.
The outcomes of the 2020 election cycle will influence the state's redistricting process following the 2020 census. In Wisconsin, the state legislature is given the task of drafting both the congressional and state legislative district plans. Both are subject to gubernatorial veto.
